How this calculator works
Everything is converted to a monthly figure: monthly amounts are used directly, and annual amounts are divided by 12 so irregular costs are spread evenly. Your surplus (disposable income) is simply total monthly income minus total monthly expenses, and expenses are grouped by category so you can see exactly where the money goes.
